Ashok Leyland Limited (ALL), one of the largest commercial vehicle (CV) manufacturers in India, has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Israeli firm Phinergy for use of aluminium air batteries for Electric CVs in India. This was announced to the stock exchanges on January 17, 2018.Phinergy is a leading developer of clean and high energy-density systems based on metal-air technology. With its aluminium-air battery, Phinergy has developed a revolutionary way to generate electricity using aluminium as an energy source. ALL plans to use this technology to meet energy requirements of its CVs in India. Prototypes and pilot trials will be developed over the next few months.
